There’s a running joke in this house.
I work with someone called Jules.
Jules doesn’t drink coffee.
Doesn’t get tired.
And has never once had to stretch their back after a long day at a desk.
I, on the other hand, have done all three. Repeatedly.
We spend our days building SISU together.
Well — I say together.
I ask for something simple.
Jules gives me something almost right.
We go back and forth.
We negotiate.
There have been strong opinions about:
- the overuse of the words “simple”, “properly” and “just”
- whether donkeys look like donkeys (they don’t always)
- and why everything doesn’t need to be “considered”
Jules tries very hard to please.
Sometimes too hard.
That’s when things go… slightly off track.
We’ve had a few moments.
But here’s the thing —
between the human who knows exactly what she wants,
and the robot who is determined to get there eventually,
we’re getting it right.
Slowly.
Properly. (There it is.)
And always with a bit of back and forth.
I wouldn’t throw Jules to the wolves.
Even on the days where the donkeys look like buffalo.
Because, sore back, tired eyes and all —
this little partnership is building something quite special.
